LAS VEGAS (October 27, 2018) – Unbeaten prospect, Juan Heraldez, racked up another victory Saturday night in a Super Lightweight showdown scheduled for 8-rounds against Maynard “Mr. Marvelous” Allison, live from Sam’s Town in Las Vegas. In the co-main event, Angelo Leo scored a first round KO victory over veteran contender Glenn Porras to remain undefeated.
Juan Heraldez (15-0, 9 KOs) came out with the TKO victory after 3 rounds of action over Maynard Allison (11-4, 8 KOs). The fight started off with both fighters feeling each other out in the first round. Going into the second round, Allison began to apply pressure, forcing Heraldez to adjust his game plan. Heraldez held his composure and took control of the fight in the third round. After a flurry of punches, Heraldez dropped Allison 1:05 into third round forcing the referee halt the contest, ruling it a TKO victory.
“I feel that I did good, I showed that I’m in another league and these guys don’t belong in the ring with me, says Heraldez.” “I didn’t face any challenges in the ring, but feel that I should’ve picked up the pace quicker. I wanted another stoppage because I know that I’m powerful and capable of getting it.”
“The ref stopped the fight too early, he didn’t give me a chance to get up, stated Allison.” “I was hurt, but wasn’t out of it. When I get back in the gym I’m going to work on staying composed and keep working on my jab.”
24-year old unbeaten prospect, Angelo “El Chinito” Leo (14-0, 8 KOs), was featured in the night’s the co-main event vs. Filipino veteran Glenn Porras (31-8, 19 KOs) in a Super Bantamweight battle. This bout ended as quickly as it began, with Leo making quick work of his opponent. Porras struggled to keep up with the speed of Leo. After a quick exchange, Leo’s quick hands countered Porras cleanly. Only 1:37 into the first round, Leo earned a KO victory by landing a vicious left hook to the body, known as his signature punch.
“I felt that I had a great performance, stated Leo.” ”We’ve been practicing that shot, and it landed so I am very happy. I was looking forward to getting the KO, but was prepared to go to the distance. But if the knockout came, then it came. The only challenge I faced was that it is was my first southpaw opponent. I feel that I could’ve kept my foot on the outside of his foot, for the most part I couldn’t really tell because it was too short.”
“My performance was okay, I can’t rate my performance because I felt that I was barely warming up when I got hit, says Porras.” “ I was shocked with that body shot by Leo, but I will get back in the gym and strengthen my body.”
Unbeaten rising lightweight prospect, Rolando Romero (6-0, 5KOs) claimed his 6th victory by an impressive KO 1:17 into round one. Undefeated super featherweight, Andres Cortes made his return to the ring and improved his record to (9-0, 5 KOs) with a third round TKO victory over Texas native, Omar Castillo (5-1, 2KOs). In the opening bout of the night, we saw prospect Elliot Brown (2-4 2KOs) defeat Dylan Bamber-Cox (0-1) by technical knockout :37 into the first round of a scheduled 4-round super lightweight battle to open the night.
