Las Vegas (September 1, 2017) – Just 1 week ago Mayweather Promotions hosted its signature event for the 8th consecutive time during the week of the unprecedented historic Mayweather vs. McGregor mega-event! Titans of the Trade: Breakfast of Champions Dream, Conquer, and Sparkle Affair took place on the morning of the Mayweather vs. McGregor weigh-in, Friday, August 25 at Tom Collichio’s Craftsteak inside the MGM Grand which resulted in a morning of excellent speeches, networking, and recognition of influential and formidable women in the sports industry.
Honorees included multi-talented artist, Tally, one of UC Riverside’s top performing female student athletes, Simone Decoud, former UNLV and Olympic softball coach, Shan McDonald, world-renowned boxing referee, Sparkle Lee, and boxing world champion and MMA rising talent, Heather “The Heat” Hardy.
The breakfast was emceed by TV personality and fashion designer, Angel Brinks with musical selections from Las Vegas native, Cabria Anderson and YouTube sensation, Jade Novah, plus a keynote speaker Jennifer Burbank of FNOM Worldwide.
The event culminated with an inspiring speech given by keynote speaker, Jennifer Burbank, as she spoke about overcoming her personal adversities to become the owner of her successful business, FNOM Worldwide. She spoke about the power of achieving one’s goals, not being afraid to pave your own way and take risks throughout your journey.
“To share my story that coincides with their stories is an amazing feeling!”
Tally opened up the award ceremony portion of the breakfast by accepting the Young Trailblazer’s Award, which, celebrates the achievements of young influencers in the sports and entertainment industry.
“When I found out that I was selected to receive this award I was wondering if it was real. I didn’t expect this, it’s so humbling and it’s such an honor for me.”
Followed by Simone Decoud who gave an motivational speech, as she received the Young Trailblazer’s Award for her great achievements as a student-athlete at UC Riverside in Southern California
“Just keep pushing, if you have a dream and it seems easy, shoot for the stars go higher.”
“I really feel honored. I’m glad to be here receiving this award means a lot!”
Shan McDonald who was once a student athlete herself, was the recipient of the Titans of the Trade Award for her numerous accomplishments as a former UNLV softball coach and Olympic softball coach among many of her other accomplishments.
“Don’t hesitate, no matter who says what” said Shan McDonald.” There’ll be people who will not be on your side saying you can’t do it. Stay true to your dream.”
A moving speech was given by Sparkle Lee, the Meritorious Award recipient, followed. Lee took the stage and reminded everyone that being a woman doesn’t mean you can’t, it means you can and you will.
“I’m extremely honored to share this stage with such admirable women”
“I have been credited to be the first of many things in boxing. It took me some time but I came to realize I am a child of the most high. Nobody, no circumstances, will ever change the value or worth that was placed upon me at birth.”
Heather Hardy closed the award ceremony of exceptional forces in the industry with a humbling speech that included powerful words for her daughter and young women alike to live by.
“If you love it, you have to do it. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t!”
“Aside from being 20-0 and the wins, knockouts and the belts, showing my daughter that she can do anything she wants to do. She should follow her heart.”
Overall, the event was a great success and while Mayweather fight days may now be a thing of the past with his recent announcement of retirement, the Titans of the Trade Breakfasts will continue.
