LAS VEGAS, NV (September 18, 2018) – Unbeaten super featherweight prospect Xavier Martinez (11-0, 7 KOs) and Chile’s veteran contender, Oscar Bravo (23-8, 11 KOs) spoke about their respective training camps and upcoming matchup before they enter the ring on Saturday, September 22 from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas.

Martinez, Sacramento native, shared thoughts on his training camp at Ray Woods Gym, while Bravo gave insight on his camp from Las Vegas at the Mayweather Boxing Club.

How is training camp going? Have you made any recent adjustments to your camp?
Xavier Martinez: “I’m currently training with Ray Woods at his gym here in Sacramento. Training camp has been going really good. This camp I’m pushing myself harder because I know this is going to be one of my toughest fights, but I feel like this fight I’ll be able to prove that I can be in there with tough guys. I hope this fight opens up a lot of doors for me. Every day I push myself harder and harder.”
Oscar Bravo: “I’ve been training with Luis Tapia here in Las Vegas at the Mayweather Boxing Club. Training camp has been going well. I have great cardio. After my last fight I kept jogging every day and now I’m just going back to boxing, but cardio is intact and we’re going to go in well prepared for the fight. I’m glad to be working back with Luis Tapia because for my last fight he had a prior commitment and I wasn’t able to prepare as much with him, but now we are both 100% concentrated on this fight and will put on a great show.”
What is your game plan going into this fight?
XM: “Go out there and do what I know how to do. Adjust to him as soon as possible.”
OB: “My plan is to work the left and get in because that’s my strength, to fight at a close distance and attack. This fight we want to apply high pressure to try and stop the fight before the end of the last round.
What do you know about your opponent and his fight style?
XM: “I know he is a very tough opponent. The last time I saw him fight was when he fought Saul Rodriguez and he dropped him. I know that it’s going to be a tough fight, but as long as I go in there with my head straight and keep the mindset that he’s not going to beat me, I’ll do fine.”
OB: “I know that he is undefeated, he is fast and loves to fight, not just move around. He likes to go for the clash and that is convenient for me that he confuses himself when he goes for the attack. I know I will shock everyone because I am more experienced and have more power.”
What can a win on September 22nd do for you going forward?
XM: “I think it’ll boost my career up a lot. It will show Floyd and Leonard that they have something good with me.”
OB: “Many opportunities can come after this fight, possibly even be able to sign with Mayweather Promotions which would make me the first Chilean boxer to sign with a big promoter here in the U.S. It would be a great achievement for my country and make my dreams come true.”
What’s next for your career after this fight?
XM: “Hopefully I can get a on a big undercard and one day as main event.”
OB: “I first have to focus on going back to Chile for personal reasons. From there I will come back to Las Vegas and see what’s next for me and boxing.”
