LAS VEGAS, NV (December 3, 2018) – Undefeated super featherweight prospect Xavier Martinez (12-0, 8 KOs) is determined to keep his record in tact when he returns to the ring in a 10-round matchup against Mexico’s seasoned Arturo Santos-Reyes (19-10, 5 KOs) in the co-feature of the event. Sin City Showdown is headlined by Miller vs. Garcia from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas on Friday, December 7th.

After a remarkable performance in his last bout on September 22nd against Chile’s veteran contender Oscar Bravo, Martinez prepares for his next competitive matchup, as he’s been training at Roy Woods gym with Roy Woods in Sacramento, California. While Arturo Santos-Reyes has been training hard and preparing with trainer Rafael Guzman in Mexico.

Here is what the fighters had to say:

How is training camp going? Have you made any recent adjustments to your camp?

Xavier Martinez: “Training camp has been going great, nothing different than the last camps. I feel that I just continue to push myself harder and harder every training camp. From my last fight I’ve seen that there are some things that I need to work on, so I’ve been working on that and just striving to be great.”

Arturo Santos-Reyes: “It’s going really good. Working very hard like always to stay strong and in great shape.  Nothing new this training camp, the same as I always do, old school Mexican style.”

What is your game plan going into this fight?

XM: “I would like a knockout, but I’m not going to look for it. With my last opponent Bravo, he was never knocked out or stopped and I went in there with my game plan and that was to use my jab and movement to keep hitting him until the ref stopped it, and he did. I’m never really looking for the knockout, if it happens it happens. My goal is to do what I need to do to get the victory.”

ASR: “My plan is to attack the body.”

What do you know about your opponent and his fight style?

XM: “I’ve seen that he’s fought a lot of tough people, but this is another step up for me. I’m really excited to show that I can hang with the top guys. I feel that if I can take out Reyes then I can show I am with the elites.”

ASR: “I don’t know much about him except that he is a very good fighter who is signed to Floyd and I have the utmost respect for every boxer. I feel that I have an advantage in this fight because I’ve fought tougher fighters than Xavier has. I never take any opponent lightly, I’m coming to give the best of me for Mexico.”

What can a win on December 7th do for your going forward?

XM: “I hope after this fight, beginning of 2019, I can be put on one of the big undercards. I do feel that every fight that I get put on is getting me ready for something big. I’m looking forward to 2019 after this one.”

ASR: “It would put me in line for a bigger high-level fight, on a bigger stage, with a bigger purse. I have fought against many good fighters.”
